Weddings at Harlaxton Manor

Alexandra and the other bridesmaids were upstairs getting ready when I arrived. They were excitedly making their final preparations in the bridal suite before the ceremony, nervously awaiting Mark's arrival.

Alexandra had designed her own wedding dress from Kula Tsurdiu, it looked absolutely stunning!

Mark arrived in his vintage red sports car, to the delight of many of the guests. The wedding ceremony itself was held in the stateroom downstairs. After much emotion, joy was shared during the intimate ceremony the guests headed into one of the ballrooms to enjoy drinks and canapés.

Later in the drinks reception, everyone headed outside to enjoy the lovely gardens at Harlaxton Manor. This provided me with an excellent opportunity to grab a few group photos and a few shots of Alexandra and Mark in the grounds.

After the drinks reception, all the guests headed into the long gallery to enjoy an exquisite wedding breakfast, followed by speeches and the cake cutting.

Later in the evening after the first dance the party got into full swing with the retrosettes sister band.

Here's a short interview from the bride and groom themselves.

How did you meet?

Me and Mark originally met through a mutual friend at a birthday party.

When did you get engaged?

We got engaged on 21 December 2014.

Tell us a little bit about your wedding planning journey.

We did all the planning and organising ourselves. We got recommendations through friends or colleagues at work, but we did all the work ourselves from designing stationary all the decorations and even the wedding dress itself.

What was the best bit of the day you?
For me the best bit of the day was when we said yes during this wedding ceremony, but it was also the first moment we saw each other as we were walking down the aisle.

Do you have any advice for other couples getting married?
I would say do not let others influence what happens on your day, remember it's your day.

As ever I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoy making them, feel free to comment or share them on social media if you wish.
